On a tablet or smartphone click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the video screen. Use a picture to get an idea how wild nature is growing beside the tracks. All trees are at their final position but not sticked firmly. The lines mark the different areas of vegetation. The numbered flags on the toothpicks help to place the trees back to their planned positions. You can also use a handy photo as a kind of map for returning the trees. I use a mixture of self-made tress and manufactured ones from different companies. A coating fixes the foam/leafs better than the often used hair spray. Different types of sand glued with slightly diluted white glue, e.g. beside the tracks or as soil for a trail. The sand is glued the same way like ballast for the tracks. Only work on small spaces so the glue will not dry to fast. Dried leafs are crushed in an electric coffee grinder (from now on this machine can be no longer used for coffee beans 😉 ) Bigger parts can be separate with a strainer. Use your fingers to help the glue to saturate the crushed leafs. Add leafs or green foam where needed. Don´t forget the numbered flags. My doubts about the thickness of the mininatur grass mat disappeared after using the now following procedures. After cutting the grass mat into small pieces cut the edges on the bottom with an angle of roughly 45 degrees. I use multi-purpose glue instead of white glue because it dries faster. Use tweezers to press the edges to the ground; now the grass mats appears thinner. While the glue dries repeat this procedure several times. I use different types of grass mats and arrange them like a colorful mosaic. The static grass applicator with an output of 15.000 volts is a product from china. It works either with a 9 V battery or the shown DC power adapter. Before switching it to ON plug in the ground wire. Different types of fiber as well as in length and color are mixed directly in the canister. The glue I use is already colored but dries with a glossy surface. Electrostatic grass is applied at free places and at the edge of the grass mats. A vacuum cleaner and a nylon trump collect all the loose grass fibers. To get higher areas of grass glue extra fibers on top of the mats. The grass applicator cannot fill all remaining gaps in the vegetation because its working range is blocked by walls or catenary masts. Gaps are closed with small pieces of grass mats. For more details I use lasercut plants and flower imitations from mininatur. After several hours of planting I was satisfied with the result and ready for the trees. Where necessary the base of the trunks have to be corrected with plaster to fit the forest ground. Leafs or foam can also fill small gaps. Grass and bushes grow usually at the edge of a forest or sometimes below the trees. I imitate this with additional pieces of grass mats or bushes. The color of lasercut plants can be changed right in place by painting them as shown. I am very satisfied with my little forest. The static grass applicator has to be tested again on another part of my layout.
