I love the ocean. Growing up in West Australia, I grew up next to the beach. So even when I travel I’m drawn to the ocean. When I am photographing, I am looking for something that I’ve never seen before. Aerial photography, you can capture a landscape in a way that is otherworldly. You can capture so many things in one frame. The biggest skill I brought into photography was understanding the ocean before I started photographing it. When the wind conditions are good for surfing, that is usually when the ocean is most attractive. When the winds are offshore, the water is glassy and reflective of the good light. When you travel with drones and you photograph from the air, you can really capture the sense of the place. Every place is a new feeling. You go to a beautiful place, you experience it, and then you can go to another place and have totally different experience. And for me, that’s addictive.
